At the February 20, 2009 meeting, Vincent Warren, the executive directory of the Center for Constitutional Rights spoke about “Neutralizing the Bush Legacy: Restoring Constitutional Rights.” He outlined the areas the Center is watching for signs that President Obama may give up some of the powers that accrued to the presidency during the Bush administration. These powers far exceeded those outlined in the Constitution, usurping many previously relegated to the courts and the Congress. So far, none have been yielded.
An energetic and engaging speaker, Mr. Warren held the audience rapt, and some even said that they wished they could hear the talk again. Fortunately, the Club video-taped the presentation, and it’s now available here.
