The health care reform debates in Washington, D.C. and California will be the focus of the our Lamorinda Democratic Club March 20th meeting.

Club members have previously made health care for all one of our priority issues. With the Obama Administration embarking on a new reform effort, and reform efforts continuing in Sacramento, Lamorinda Democratic Club members will have the opportunity to hear from an expert who can put all of these reform efforts in focus and tell us what we can do to support them. More… Health Access California is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to achieving quality, affordable health care for all Californians.

For more than fifteen years, Health Access has played a significant role health care reform and has promoted universal health care proposals and advocated for reforms that promise to provide health care services to California’s most vulnerable populations.

Health Access is truly unique among organizations that advocate for health care reform in its ability to work at both the grassroots and senior policy levels. Health Access works with more than 200 member organizations representing communities of color, immigrants, people with disabilities, children, seniors, people of faith, labor, and working families.

Linda Leu joined Health Access California as its Northern California Regional Organizer. Linda has previously worked on advocacy projects for language rights and adolescent reproductive rights. She also has worked in local government, where she gained invaluable experience in dealing with the challenges of implementing programs on the ground and the need to advocate for better public policy.

Leu fell in love with community organizing through volunteering with, then working for, Obama for America. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Southern California and an MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health in Columbia University.

Our meeting will be a key opportunity for Lamorinda Democrats to receive an update on the details of the national and California healthcare reform efforts while learning what our club and its members can do to move or state and nation towards our goal of ensuring health care for everyone.
