Health Access California’s Linda Leu presented an update an analysis of the health care reform debate in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., during her presentation at the Club’s March 20, 2009, meeting.
Health Access works with a broad coalition of more than 200 member organizations representing communities of color, immigrants, people with disabilities, children, seniors, people of faith, labor, and working families.
Leu outlined the options on the table, including a description of President Obama’s Public Health Insurance Plan. She also described the organization’s advocacy efforts at the national and state level. Members closely questioned Leu about Health Access’ position on single-payer health care. Leu also explained why Health Access California is also opposing Proposition 1A on the May 19, 2009 special election ballot.
Leu’s presentation provided club members with a timely opportunity to examine and debate one of the Lamorinda Democratic Club’s priority issues.
