The Lamorinda Democratic Club's Friday, January 11, meeting (please note the special meeting night) will feature a presentation by Emerge California Executive Director Kimberly Ellis.
The club's meeting will be held at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd, in Lafayette. The club's social hour will begin at 7:00 p.m., with a business meeting beginning between 7:15-7:30 p.m. depending on the length of our agenda. There is a $5 charge at the door to help the club cover meeting expenses.
Kimberly will talk about Emerge California's successful efforts to help change the face of California politics by identifying, training and encouraging women to run for office, get elected and to seek higher office. Our intensive, cohort-based seven-month training program is unique. As the number of elected Democratic women remains flat or even declines, the need for our work is growing.
Prior to becoming the Executive Director of Emerge California, Kimberly was Emerge America's National Affiliate Director. A 2007 Emerge California graduate, Kimberly also has personal experience with the Emerge program and the mission of the organization.
The majority of Kimberly's background and experience is in operations management and organizational infrastructure development and implementation. She has worked in private industry, government, and the non-profit sector.
We will also engage in this conversation with other Emerge California graduates, including our own Vice President Katie Ricklefs!
