LDC Presidential Straw Poll

2020 Straw Poll For President

Saturday, January 19, 2019

This year’s Walnut Creek Women’s March enjoyed its third year of enthusiastic turnout. Thousands of energetic friends, families, and marchers gathered to advocate, organize, protest, and find common ground. Along with our other Democratic club friends, the Lamorinda Democratic Club was proud to sponsor The Contra Costa Democratic Clubs Booth.

Just for fun, we posed the question, “If the next general election was tomorrow, who would you choose to be our next president?”  Most booth visitors jumped at the chance to weigh in, though many anguished over trying to limit their decision to only one candidate. We observed a lot of careful consideration and an almost universal sentiment that, “We need someone who will WIN!”

Some participants also offered President/Veep suggestions:  “Biden/Harris,” Harris/O’Rourke,” and “Biden/O’Rourke” were among the most popular. The category “Other,” was diverse and included Eric Swalwell, Sherrod Brown, Stacey Abrams, Adam Schiff, Michael Bloomberg, Mitch Landrieu, and even Oprah!

Needless to say, the field, to date, is wide open, and Democrats are excited by all of their potential options.  In the months ahead, we hope to establish an ongoing interactive poll, so we can take the real-time pulse of our community.

Please check back on our web site from time to time, stay informed and engaged, and let us know if you’d like to become more active in our Precinct Organizing Project, or on any of our committees. Please check out our “Voulunteer” page. We need you!
