Long time political and environmental activist Marie Kahn of Moraga has served as secretary of the Lamorinda Democratic Club since 2006 and as co-coordinator of the Moraga Precinct Organization Committee since 2007.
In the latter role, she and the volunteer team delight in watching Moraga, formerly a Republican stronghold, turn an ever deeper shade of blue. During the run-up to the 2008 election year, more than 130 local volunteers woked to build a Democratic community in the town, and by January 2008, the door to door effort had succeeded in turning the town blue. By April 2008, Moraga could boast a 2% Democratic majority.
Marie also teaches English as a second language to adult immigrants and is active in the peace community.
