Lamorinda Democratic Club Members and Friends,

March 2021. “In like a lion; out like a lamb?”

As a nation, we’ve had to grapple with so many tragic and simultaneous events — the attack on our capital, the grim milestone of half a million Americans lost in a pandemic, and the millions more whose lives have been upended by loneliness — or food, housing, and income insecurities. Most of us are ready for relief from the chaos. We’re ready for a little less lion and a little more lamb.

Americans have been stress-tested, and so has our democracy.  But I hope we agree — there is cause for optimism. We are filling a reservoir of resiliency, emerging stronger, and rebuilding good government.

Please join us for this month’s general meeting on Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. Political science professor Stephen Woolpert will present:

“Stress Testing Our Democracy: Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats, and Opportunities”

This month’s meeting will also provide an opportunity for members to connect in smaller groups within breakout rooms.  Absolutely no experience is necessary. Our Zoom wizards will be standing by to assist. To receive the Zoom link, please register by clicking here.

In the meantime, here is some advice on how to deal with stress, from the American Psychological Association. It appears to be in perfect step with participation in the Lamorinda Democratic Club!

  • Find commonalities with others.
  • Find meaningful ways to get involved in your community.
  • Stay informed, but know your limits.
  • Seek solace.  Connect to the present moment.
  • Take care.

We look forward to seeing you on March 11th!

Best,

Tracy Brog
Lamorinda Democratic Club President
