Mary Ann Hoisington

Mary Ann Hoisington is a native Californian. She was reared in the then beautiful San Gabriel Valley, where she spent her first 25 years watching real estate developers rape the land between sea and mountains.

Mary Ann and her husband, Bill, came North in 1957, when Bill entered law school. They choose Lafayette as their home and will be here forever – ending in the wee Lafayette pioneer Cemetery.

The first organization Bill and Mary Ann joined in 1957 was the Lafayette Democratic Club. They both served terms as President of that Club before it merged with the Orinda-Moraga Democratic Club to form the present Lamorinda Democratic Club.
Mary Ann taught for 36 years of 39 years as an elementary school teacher in the Orinda Union School District.

Besides her interest in politics, Mary Ann’s main volunteer efforts are with the Friends of the Lafayette Library.
