Carlyn Obringer

Carlyn has been actively involved in Contra Costa County politics since early 2005, serving as the elected Secretary of the Democratic Party of Contra Costa County, as well as the Board Member responsible for publicity for the Lamorinda Democratic Club, since early 2005. She has also frequently contributed articles to the Dispatch and to Carlyn’s Column on the Lamorinda Democratic Club website, on topics of interest tolocal Democrats.

Passionate about the environment, Carlyn serves as the elected Mt. Diablo Group representative to the Executive Board of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. She is also the Co-Chair of the Contra Costa Commission for Women, where she works with her fellow commissioners to improve the economic status, social welfare and quality of life for women in the County.

Carlyn holds an MBA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. A researcher/writer for a nonprofit organization focusing on public education reform, she lives in Concord with her husband, Justin Gerdes.
